Terms of Service
Last updated: August 26, 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms govern your use of UpKorean at upkorean.com and related Progressive Web App experiences. By using the service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
The service is operated by Valuecore Labs (밸류코어 랩스) from South Korea. The product UI is in English. Business registration and customer-service details are on our Business Information page.
2. The service
UpKorean provides Korean-learning materials and tools for English-speaking learners, including scenario lessons, pattern practice, politeness-level variants, spaced review, and microphone-based pronunciation practice.
Features may change. Free and paid tiers (when available) may differ in access limits (for example daily speak attempts).
3. Accounts
You may use parts of the product without an account. Optional sign-in uses Google or an email magic link (no UpKorean password). You are responsible for access to the email or Google account you use.
You must provide accurate information and not create accounts for abusive or automated misuse.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Break the law or infringe others’ rights while using UpKorean.
- Attempt to disrupt, scrape at abusive scale, reverse-engineer, or hack the service.
- Upload unlawful, harassing, or harmful content via any input surfaces we provide.
- Misrepresent scores, share accounts to evade limits, or use the API/endpoints outside the intended product UI.
We may suspend or terminate access for violations or risk to the service or other users.
5. Learning content & intellectual property
Lessons, copy, audio, branding, and software are owned by UpKorean or its licensors. You receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive license to use the service for your own language learning — not to copy, redistribute, or train competing models on our content.
Curriculum methods (for example spaced repetition or pattern drills as concepts) are not claimed as exclusive; our specific lessons and materials are protected expression.
6. Speaking practice
Microphone access is required for speaking items. Scoring is automated and may be imperfect. Scores are feedback tools, not official certifications or exam results.
Audio handling is described in the Privacy Policy.
7. Payments, renewals & refunds
Paid Plus subscriptions are sold through Paddle as merchant of record. Paddle’s checkout buyer terms and privacy notices apply to payment processing. UpKorean operates the learning service and grants Plus access based on subscription status we receive from Paddle.
Plus is a recurring monthly or annual subscription and renews automatically until you cancel. Prices and taxes are shown at checkout. Cancel anytime via Paddle’s customer portal / receipt links; access continues until the end of the paid period.
Refunds and payment disputes follow our Refund & Cancellation Policy, Paddle’s buyer terms, and any mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.
8. Disclaimers
UpKorean is provided “as is” for educational purposes. We do not guarantee fluency outcomes, uninterrupted availability, or error-free scoring. We are not a school issuing accredited degrees, and we do not market named “teacher-certified” credentials as a requirement for our review process.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, UpKorean and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (including certain consumer rights that may apply in your country).
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence require otherwise. Courts in Korea shall have jurisdiction, subject to those mandatory protections.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms as the product evolves. Continued use after the “Last updated” date means you accept the revised Terms, except where consent is required by law.
